WASH

WASH – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – is critical for good health and nutrition, and is a major challenge for rural Bangladesh. Major investments in tube wells for safe drinking water has disrupted water tables and led to arsenic contamination. Water-borne diseases caused by unsafe sanitation account for one-quarter of all diseases in Bangladesh.

The Hunger Project includes training and campaigns as a key component of its integrated, gender-focused SDG Union strategy:

  • WASH campaigns at school level
  • WASH campaigns at community level
  • Tubewell installation
  • Tubewell testing
  • Construction and promotion of sanitary latrines.
